Jerk Chicken, rice and peas is like rocket fuel - I could live off the stuff if someone would kindly show me how to cook it or cook it for me. The succulent chicken infused with alls sorts of flavoursome herbs and mix the sauce with the rice and peas and you have yourself a damn good meal to satisfy your soul.
They do all of your Caribbean favourites at Portland Lagoon, Rum bread, ginger beer and some tasty cakes too. If only I could eat the stuff away from the drizzle and drabness of Birmingham to a more tropical scene, then the experience would be sublime - but for the time being I will have to enjoy it while dreaming of sunshine.
Portland Lagoon is an authentic little Caribbean joint doing some tasty traditional food. -

So you`re an authentic Jamaican", I said Jokingly to the guy who served Me as I waited for my goat soup. I was warned that there was not much left!" I hope You`re not going to give Me the pot bottom" I joked....Jamaican slang for left overs.
I was given a generous helping of really, tasty, wholesome soup with meat that I could see and tiny oblong dumplings that is associated with Jamaican soup I ate the lot!
The welcoming atmosphere and conversation also to the quality of my experience.
"We cook from the heart the heart" I was told. And they certainly do.I will definitely be going again.
